Reverse Swing Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 wins a trophy

We are thrilled to announce that our 2007 Reverse Swing was awarded a trophy for the best Cabernet Sauvignon at the 2009 Geographe Wine Show in October.

Middle Stump Shiraz

Middle Stump 2004 has joined the ranks of its gold winning predecessors and picked up a golden gong at the Boutique Wines of Australia Wine Awards 2006.

(psst...the 2005 Middle Stump Shiraz which has not been released for sale has just grabbed a golden gong at the Blackwood Valley 2006 WA Boutique Wine Show...not bad for a youngun...if you want to put down a case or two we might break the rules...sshhhh)

Middle Stump Shiraz has now won a gold medal for every vintage! Now I don't want to put pressure on our winemaker Peter Stanlake for the 2006 MS, but...

Fine Leg Chardonnay

We were so happy with our first experimental chardy that we copied the same recipe. Fat chardy fruit from Geographe (fat is a word our winemaker Peter uses to describe taste qualities, not fruit size) combined with elegant Margaret River chardy combine to make our 2005 a wine to remember. It has picked up a Bronze at the 2006 Cowra Wine Show and its still a baby...but drinking beautifully.

French Cut Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

French Cut 2006 SSB is now on sale and lo and behold it has picked up a golden gong at the Blackwood Valley 2006 WA Boutique Wine Show. And they said we were mad putting some tight French wood on our SSB! Viva La France!

Reverse Swing Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a true story (I'm always suspicious of people who say that). Anyway, in 2004 we put some of our cabernet in French Oak thinking we were going to make the best cab sav in the universe. After a year it tasted so foul that we told Peter to tip it out. But Peter is very disobedient and he didn't. A year later I was tasting a barrel sample of cab sav and I got very excited and asked "Whose is this?" and the response was "It's yours you [expletive deleted]". Peter, as you have probably gathered, is also very rude. Now I was REALLY excited. Willy Bay could make great cab sav from Geographe fruit. We only had a hundred cases or so and we hadn't developed a label, so we bottled it with the intention of putting a label on later. Trouble was, somebody would take a bottle then come back and want to buy six cases and before we knew it (about a nanosecond) the whole lot had been scoffed.

Unfortunately, because we thought we could only make the worst cab sav in the universe, we never made any in 2005. Groan. But, all is not lost. We have put some of our 2006 cab sav in French Oak and have developed a label in readiness for 2008. Willy Bay Reverse Swing Cabernet Sauvignon is born.
